Anchored Ministries Programs
Our board of directors are made up of community members that have a heart for Anchored Ministries. All of these individuals serve on a volunteer basis.
Back To School
This Program focuses on local TVSD area students (preschool through 12th grade) with brand new backpacks and school supplies. Families attend a one-day event where the student has the opportunity to shop, select their items, shop both Mobile Clothing Closets, find books and crafts from Chen’s Corner Library, enjoy delicious breakfast and lunch, touch-a-truck, eye exams, and more!
Chen’s Corner Library
A library that travels with all of our events! Chen’s Corner Library, in loving memory of our Director’s sister Crescenda “Chen” Long, provides free books for the taking to all, as well as fun crafts and projects for the kids we have the honor of serving.
Christmas
Parents/Guardians in the Twin Valley Area School District who are on the Free and Reduced Lunch Program (nearly 40% of the district in the 2022 / 2023 school year) are invited to complete a Wish List for each of their children ages birth through 12th grade. These lists include clothing sizes, reading level, favorite color, three needs, three wants, three reads, and a place to add in any special requests or comments. Each list is paired with a community member who has signed up to sponsor a child/children. They shop for that list, and drop off the items unwrapped. The Saturday before Christmas, the Parent/Guardian attends a one-day pick up event. They receive their sponsored gifts, shop Santa’s Shop for one additional gift per child (empowerment piece), shop Stocking Stuffers, wrap their items with a volunteer, shop our library program (Chen’s Library), and enjoy a hot meal with baked goods. There is also a place for each parent/guardian to fill out a thank you note that is then sent to their sponsor.
Community Roadside Stand
Every Thursday from 9am to noon, we have a Roadside Stand Shed open with donated Wawa breakfast, books from Chen’s Corner Library, Toiletries, and food items from our emergency food pantry.
Easter
Provide Easter Baskets, and all of the fixings for in them, for parents to be ablel to provide a fun Easter morning. This allows us to build upon the relationships with our participants. We typically have a few full Easter Meals to provide to families, as well. We provide the Easter basket and filling – requiring the parent/guardian to assemble the items and play a role in providing the holiday item.
Emergency Food Pantry
We have outstanding food pantry’s serving in our area and we truly believe we are better together! While we are not looking to reinvent the wheel or duplicate services, we also understand that our friends in the community need access to food on a more ongoing basis. Anchored Ministries provides an Emergency Food Pantry to help our friends get to the next food distribution from one of the local, full, food pantries.
Mobile Clothing Closet
Enclosed trailers (16 ft. and 32 ft.) constructed into clothing stores on wheels. These trailers carry clothing (sizes newborn through adult), toiletries, shoes, accessories, blankets, and more. They partner with surrounding organizations such as food pantries and churches, or find areas struck by poverty. We park, open our doors, and welcome anyone in who may need the items, for free! We carry seasonal clothing, and use the clothing and items as a way to convey we genuinely care and love for each and every person. Relationships are built while helping participents find needed items. We “personal shop” with them, take items off and bag the items for them, and keep everything nice and neat. We aim to give the store experience, though the Mobile Clothing Closets, without the store price tag. Just because someone cannot afford new, does not mean they don’t deserve the same quality experience as those who can afford it.
Monthly Community Meal
On the 2nd Tuesday of each month, held at Conestoga Mennonite Church, we serve a sit-down meal for all of our friends in the community! This is intended for anyone and everyone, and a chance to really create and strengthen our community. Often times the Mobile Clothing Closet and Chen’s Corner Library are present as well. Conestoga Mennonite Church’s address is: 2779 Main Street, Morgantown PA 19543.

Teacher Appreciation
Supply each school in the Twin Valley School District with extra large gift baskets to be placed in each faculty lounge with both needed and fun items for the staff to take and enjoy. Some items are practical and of necessity, others such as posters or prizes for students are more for fun. This is a simple way we say “thank you” and let the teachers know we are here and support them!
Winter Coats
Designated event where all in the community are welcome to shop new and gently used winter coats, snow gear, boots, hats, gloves, scarves, enjoy some delicious and warm treats.
