Saturday morning showed up exactly the way you want it to for a race: overcast skies, cool air, and a course full of neighbors ready to move.
The 6th Annual Elverson 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run brought 71 runners and walkers out to Livingood Park, all running for the same reason: to help make sure the next family that walks into our Mobile Clothing Closet finds exactly what they need.
None of this happens without the businesses who back this race year after year. This year’s sponsors were George E. Ley Company, Ink’s Disposal Service, Blue Marsh Insurance, SnapFitness, and Elverson Dental Care & Implant Center. Five local businesses who believe in what a morning at the park can do for this community.
And what a morning it did. Once the dust settled, this year’s race translated into roughly 500 pieces of clothing moving from a donation bin into the hands of a neighbor who needs it. Coats. Shoes. Backpacks. The kind of thing that makes a hard month a little easier.
Thank you to every runner, walker, volunteer, and sponsor who made Saturday what it was. This is what it looks like when a community decides to take care of its own, one 5K at a time.
